As a new immigrant, I have heard so many versions of life in Canada. Some of the suggestions from old immigrants confused me. In my first year in Canada, I attended many workshops designed for new immigrants. But I still could not get information that I was satisfied with. TCCLD helped me look at things from a different angle. I feel lucky to have found the IWIP program early enough, so I didn’t waste more time on other people’s suggestions. It was definitely a wonderful one-year study experience.
The IWIP program taught me the true meaning of multiculturalism and some useful skills that I need to build my life in Canada, including volunteering, social life and finding work.
If there is anything I can say to new IWIP trainees, it will be:
Follow your passion; never follow someone else’s path. Don’t let the noise from the opinions of others drown your dream. Your passion can lead you to find what you want to do.
