You can enrich the lives of others by offering the gift of your time and skills as a volunteer. The Centre for Community Learning and Development offers you a way to give back to your community and enrich your own life in the process.
Become a volunteer tutor
We are seeking for volunteers to be a one-to-one tutor or lead a small group of adult learners. The commitment is 2 hours a week, for at least one year. Volunteers will support learners to develop skills they are interested in – such as reading, writing, math and computers. We are especially in need of volunteers who experience working with consumer/survivors of the mental health system and/or teaching English as a second language. Volunteer Tutors are also eligible to participate in professional development opportunities, provide workshop facilitation during our Civic Engagement week(s) for learners, and acted as supply instructors.
Our volunteer tutors come from all walks of life. You don’t need to have a teaching background. We will train and help to certify you as a Basic Adult Literacy Tutor.
To get started, fill out volunteer tutor application and send to Mahlikah our Deputy Executive Director at firstname.lastname@example.org
